What the Training Entails

¤

Each training session is intended
to last over a duration of 6 hours

¤

As the aforementioned vision seeks to emulate, the training imparted will be experiential and spiritual, quite contrary to being theoretical.  All participants in training will be inspired to absorb and assimilate the concept of ‘learning by love’ engaging all of their sense faculties, in lieu of written tutorials. They will be led along a journey of reflection, self-direction, and devotion to epitomize moral sensitivity - in ‘lived and learned’ experience - that must revolve around the child every step of the way.

Mrs. Rajapakse will emphasize on the most basic observable truths and ‘help to life’ attitudes and expressions that lay the cornerstones for success in both adults and children for the whole of life.  The recipients of this special training will be helped to cultivate these strengths primarily by means of their personal commitments and dedication.  The trainer will continuously assess the dynamics of the training group in order to provide each participating individual a solid base for his/her roles as directress of the child.

Each session will cover an important philosophical aspect with respect to the child as well as the adult.  Interactivity will be the key element in these training sessions.  All questions, curiosities, and concerns, in terms of helping the child, will be addressed applying basic principles as building blocks of life.

While the spiritual approach is consistently emphasized, systematic training in practical applications, enrichment activities, and material making will be held as a part and parcel of continuing education towards diploma certification.

The training will continuously and consistently touch upon four focal points:

¤

Mrs. Mildred Gunawardena’s Authentic Montessori Vision in Education
¤ The Montessori Materials as ‘Means of Development’ in view of their unique goals
¤ The Montessori Adult’s Role as ‘a Director/Directress’ in helping the child help him/herself
¤ ‘The Montessori Prepared Environment’ which has been scientifically and deliberately prepared, to help the child help himself/herself to understand his/her world.

Upon the culmination of each segment that comprises of five training sessions, every trainee will be awarded a certificate of attendance.  A cumulative total coverage of 360 hours (120 hours fulfilled per academic year over span of three years) will be required to earn the Primary Diploma Certification awarded by the Mildred Gunawardena Montessori Training Center of Bainbridge~Solon Montessori School.

Please note:  The principle of respect will be observed to the utmost.  An honor system will prevail.  No audio or video taping will be permitted.
