Bainbridge ~
Solon Montessori School
as it is known
today--
our educational perspective
*
Bainbridge~Solon Montessori School takes pride in continuing its tradition
with an authentic
Montessori
environment to
suit the psychological needs of the child in the formative phases of 0-6
and 6-12 years of age.
*
Bainbridge~Solon Montessori School, an educational institution chartered
by the State Board of Education
of Ohio,
is dedicated towards providing an intellectually stimulating and
challenging environment to children of 1-1/2 years through 12 years of age (grades pre-K through 6 expressed
in Montessori terms as Children's House through Upper Elementary grades).
* Bainbridge-Solon
Montessori School is the only one of its kind,
having been founded in 1970 by Mrs. Mildred Gunawardena, a foremost mentor
and Montessori pioneer directly trained under Dr. Maria Montessori.
* Mrs.
Gunawardena, having been the founding
principal of several Montessori schools outside the USA - as well as a
practising Montessori pedagogue
for over fifty years since her
association with Dr. Maria Montessori (in 1943) -
continued her dream from its very inception until the dawn of the
new millennium, as the teaching
principal of Bainbridge~Solon Montessori School.
* 'SERVICE
TO EVERY CHILD' is the
guiding principle of Bainbridge ~ Solon Montessori School. In keeping with
the Montessori precepts, this school seeks to help children develop their
individual human potential for living and learning to the fullest - eventually to become independent and interdependent citizens of the world.
In observation of the school's highest educational mission, children are respected for their natural developmental capacities to learn -
at their own pace - in synchrony with their individual biological/psychological clocks of time.
Hence, we neither look to stereotype nor to label children under adult-oriented norms and standards, but rather,
we help each and every child to receive within his own capacity to absorb and
assimilate to the fullest. Therefore, children's developmental
sensitivities are consistently and continuously matched with opportunity to help
them realize the best of their individual human potential.
Unlike
conventional schools, our
philosophy does not bring to bear adult-oriented selection processes that are
exclusionary.
* Applications
for admission are always welcome contingent upon individual needs and
availability of vacancies.
In accordance with the Montessori principles, student enrollment takes place on a
continual basis throughout the year - based on children's developmental needs.
However,
in
consideration of administrative purposes, student enrollment is
recommended during the months of September, January, March and June.
