Bainbridge-Solon
Montessori Graduates
Then and
Now: 1970-2007
Dear
Bainbridge-Solon Montessori Alumni & Friends:
Hurrah! We are
delighted that we have finally found a way to reach you. Thanks to
our modern world of technology and communication!
Thirty-five years filled
with cherished Montessori memories, along our journey in service to the
children of the world, have elapsed since our school's inception in
1970.
We feel fulfilled to
learn that the lives of nearly 3500 students thus far, have been
enriched under our guidance to meet the challenges of life in a rapidly
changing, complex world. It is, again, refreshing to reflect that
we have evolved into an academic institution that remains ever ready to
foster the educational demands of a technological age... while
still nurturing - in keeping with Montessori ideals - the natural
developmental pursuits of the child in his/her quest to realize his/her
fullest potential.
As educators, we are
proud to note that we have grown with our challenges and rewards along
with our students... from both intellectual and
spiritual standpoints. Needless to say, our journey of exploration
and discovery should continue to take noteworthy direction as we attain newer
heights. And this - while we tread along the
path of our holistic mission... in helping Man, the CHILD
upon whom the world rests.
As our vision continues
to unfold, it is our fervent hope that our students will become the
great artists, scientists and architects of the future who will make the
most out of their gifts and talents cultivated in their formative life
(from birth to 6 and 6 to 12 years of age) at the Bainbridge-Solon Montessori School.
Already, we are glad to be the witnesses of this select cross-section of
our alumni society who have, in one way or another, chosen to reveal
their life's pledge - their passion for a special service to
humanity.
Furthermore, we are most
grateful to our much admired and revered mentor, Mrs. Mildred
Gunawardena, (1915-2000), who dedicated a tremendous portion of her life to the
Montessori mission in helping the "universal child."
Mrs. G, as we fondly call her - our distinguished Montessori pedagogue
- demonstrated her humility and love for children for well over a
half a century, almost 68 years! We are glad to note that the
school continues to emulate the loving spirit of Mrs. G in all its
endeavors to help the children of the world.
Thank you so profusely
for taking the time to read this message. In our efforts to
demonstrate our long cherished ideals, good relations and friendships,
we invite you to join hands with us in the creation of our
Bainbridge-Solon Montessori School database. Again, we hope, this
will enable us to stay in touch, not forgetting your patronage and
support, in view of the future betterment of our school.
Thank you in advance for
your cooperation. Wishing you continued success in your
intellectual and cultural pursuits.
Sincerely,
Nelunika Gunawardena
